Air racing looks glamorous from the outside, but behind the controls it is relentless preparation. Training isn’t just about flying, it’s about discipline, predictability, safety, and pushing your body and mind to the edge.
In the lead-up to Roswell, my preparation involves:
Flight hours and training: building muscle memory and precision.
Safety drills: rehearsing emergency procedures until they’re second nature.
Physical fitness: strengthening endurance to handle G-forces.
Mental resilience: managing nerves, staying calm, and focusing under pressure.
But the truth is, you never prepare alone.
Behind every racer is a team.
Engineers, ground crew, fellow pilots, and family. They keep us safe, keep us sharp, and keep us flying.
Racing may be the fastest motorsport on earth, but it’s also the most human. It’s about trust, teamwork, and the pursuit of excellence.
