Air Racing
Flying Low. Flying Fast. Representing Australia.

My
Story

I’m Tammy “JetSheila” Camilleri—Australia’s first female certified jet racing pilot and the fifth woman in the world to earn a Jet Class racing licence.

Air racing combines speed, precision, discipline and courage. We race at more than 400 mph, just 50 feet above the ground, navigating a closed course marked by pylons. There is no room for complacency. Every lap depends on preparation, teamwork, situational awareness and absolute trust in the aircraft and the people behind it.

This is more than racing. It is the opportunity to represent Australia on an international stage, challenge expectations and show others what becomes possible when they dare to pursue something extraordinary.

MAKING AIR RACING HISTORY

My jet racing journey began at the National Championship Air Races in Reno, Nevada.

I earned my L-39 jet endorsement in 2015 and my L-29 endorsement in 2021. I became the first Australian woman to qualify and compete in the Jet Class—and remain Australia’s only female jet racing pilot.

At the inaugural National Championship Air Races in Roswell, New Mexico, in 2025, I made history again:

  • First jet racer to win a pylon race at the inaugural Roswell event

  • First woman to win a Jet Class heat at Roswell

  • Two heat wins and one third-place finish

  • Sixth overall in the Jet Class

  • Recorded 401.365 mph in Miss Independence

  • First stock L-29 to officially exceed 400 mph

Every milestone has been achieved through years of training, persistence and the support of an exceptional team.

MEET MISS INDEPENDANCE

Miss Independence is our L-29 Delfín jet racer and the aircraft I race around the pylons.

Originally designed as a military jet trainer, the L-29 is strong, responsive and unmistakable in the air. Preparing her to race requires months of detailed maintenance, inspection, testing and coordination.

At Roswell in 2025, Miss Independence officially recorded 401.365 mph—earning both of us membership of the 400 MPH Club and establishing her as the first stock L-29 to break the 400 mph barrier in competition.

She represents far more than speed. Miss Independence embodies resilience, determination and the courage to take a different path.

AUSTRALIA’S INTERNATIONAL JET RACING TEAM

Air racing may happen in the cockpit, but success is created by the entire team.

CCTRacing has competed in American jet racing since 2012. We are Australia’s only team competing internationally in the Jet Class and the only husband-and-wife jet racing team.

Led by Charlie “Squid” Camilleri, our pilots, engineers and ground crew bring together decades of experience from Australia, the United States and around the world.

Every race requires an enormous logistical effort—moving aircraft, equipment and people across countries, preparing the jets, meeting technical requirements and supporting the pilots through every stage of competition.

We race as one team, united by trust, professionalism and a shared commitment to represent Australia proudly.

THE ROAD TO ROSWELL 2026

In September 2026, CCTRacing returns to Roswell, New Mexico, for the National Championship Air Races.

Our international crew will travel from Australia, the United States and Europe to bring the campaign together. The aircraft and equipment must be prepared, transported and tested before racing begins.

Through our Road to Roswell series on YouTube, we are sharing the real journey—the preparation, travel, teamwork, challenges and moments that happen long before the jets reach the start chute.

Follow the campaign and experience international jet racing from inside the team.

PARTNER WITH THE TEAM

International jet racing offers brands a distinctive platform built around speed, technology, precision, resilience and Australian achievement.

Partnerships can include:

  • Branding on racing aircraft, team apparel and equipment

  • Exposure through international air racing and aviation events

  • Digital storytelling across YouTube and social media

  • Corporate appearances and keynote presentations

  • Behind-the-scenes team engagement

  • Business-to-business networking opportunities

  • Content created around a partner’s objectives

We welcome partners who want to become part of the journey—not simply place a logo on an aircraft.

Together, we can create a partnership that is visible, authentic and memorable.
